Welcome to Quidditch

What is it?
Our science-backed Quidditch curriculum is designed to inspire children of all abilities to engage in sport, fostering teamwork and effective communication through the pedagogical approach of cooperative learning.

Each session…
revolves around imaginative and enjoyable games, tapping into the fun and creativity inherent in the sport. By infusing elements of social and emotional learning, participants not only improve their physical skills but also enhance their emotional intelligence and subsequently their overall well-being. This holistic approach encourages inclusivity, empowers collaboration, and cultivates vital life skills, ensuring that every child benefits from the transformative power of sport in a supportive and engaging environment.

How does it work?
Two teams of seven players, opposing each other on a rectangular pitch, compete with the primary objective of passing a ball (the Quaffle) through the defenders’ hoops, while preventing their opponents from passing it through their own hoops, all while avoiding being hit by dodgeballs called Bludgers. The Seeker’s goal is to catch the Golden Snitch, which ends the game and earns their team a large number of points. It’s a fast-paced and exciting game that combines elements of rugby, basketball, and dodgeball, with a magical twist.

Our quidditch sessions can be an excellent way to foster team relationships, enhance communication, alleviate pressure and support well-being, while allowing people to enjoy themselves.

Here’s how our sessions can help achieve these goals:

  • Team Bonding: Fun Quidditch events promote camaraderie and teamwork outside of competitive pressure.
  • Communication Skills: Players practice communication in a relaxed setting, improving teamwork.
  • Problem-Solving: Light-hearted events allow teams to tackle challenges together, enhancing problem-solving abilities.
  • Building Trust: Teams develop trust in each other’s abilities, strengthening teamwork.
  • Stress Relief: Events provide a break from competitive stress, allowing players to enjoy the game.
  • Skill Development: Players work on skills in a low-pressure environment, improving performance.
  • Celebrating Achievements: Events can be used to recognise and celebrate team and individual accomplishments, fostering a positive team culture.
