Alinea acts as a private teacher, providing reading and writing support. Because Alinea is not connected to specific curricula, it can be used with every subject: from science to history and language learning.  Be it through state-of-the-art OCR, text-to-speech, spell checking, speech-to-text or writing abstracts, Alinea boosts every user’s confidence and independence.  More than 80% of parents and students report seeing study results grow thanks to the use of our literacy support software Alinea.

How can Alinea help dyslexic learners?

There are several ways Alinea can help dyslexic learners improve their reading, writing, and spelling abilities. Here are some examples:

    1. Text-to-Speech Software: Dyslexic learners benefit from converting text into speech, allowing them to hear written text. This can help them to better understand and comprehend information that they might otherwise struggle to read.
    2. Speech-to-Text Software: helps dyslexic learners to express their thoughts and ideas in writing. This software allows users to speak into a microphone and have their words transcribed into text.
    3. Dyslexia-friendly Fonts: Certain fonts, such as OpenDyslexic, have been specifically designed to make reading easier for dyslexic individuals. This typeface emphasizes the bottom of each letter, which helps to prevent letters from being flipped or reversed in the reader’s mind.
    4. Spellcheckers and word prediction: help dyslexic learners to catch spelling errors and even homophones, which can be a major source of frustration and difficulty for those with writing difficulties.
    5. Study Tools: tools such as highlighting, note-taking, and summarizing features, help learners engage with and make meaning of the material they are reading.

These tools allow students to work independently and at their own pace, without feeling self-conscious about their difficulties or holding back their classmates.

Overall, software can be a valuable tool for dyslexic learners, providing them with the resources and support they need to succeed academically and beyond.

Case study: Sara is an 11-year-old girl who speaks Arabic. She goes to an international school, so she has had to learn English. Although Sara likes school, her teacher has noticed she is making a lot of mistakes while writing.  Although she has learned to write in Arabic, she is finding it a challenge to learn a different alphabet. Unfortunately, Sara has become very insecure because of this. Her teacher wants to help Sara via using Alinea by Lexima.  With the help of Alinea Sara now works with customized speech-to-text functionalityword prediction and other product features that support composition, homophones and verbs. As a result, Sara is now much more confident, happier at school and making progress!  Find more Case Studies for K12, 3-18, high school and university on Lexima’s website the website www.lexima.com
