Holidays for teachers are often laughed about and are frequently ridiculed in media. But they are so very necessary.
We trust these adults with the education of our children; and just like life, there is a diverse tapestry and richness of holiday approach.
Some people will take the break to explore somewhere new or learn a new skill.
Some will hide under the duvet and recharge their battery.
Some will increase exercise or family connections.
Some will catch on professional development and expand their knowledge or skill set.
Some will let their hair down and party.
Most will do a little if everything.
Regardless of approach, the breaks are vital to allow teachers time and space to breath and grow; in their own way.
Teaching requires a particular kind of patience and masking. It is like acting all day, every day, with rehearsed scripts that become ad lib , with unpredictable cast members and environments. Exhausting!
I am grateful to each of you for what you have done this half term and what you will do next.
Thank you for everything, every day and I hope you really enjoy partying, resting, connecting, learning or exploring 💜
