Nessy's Global Advocacy and Comprehensive Learning Programs

At Nessy we are best known as advocates for children with dyslexia and other special education needs around the globe, but the Nessy programs are not only for dyslexia. Nessy collaborates with some of the world’s leading academics and follows the Science of Reading, to ensure our programs are based upon proven research.

Our programs take an individualised approach to learning, by identifying exactly where the student needs help and guiding them through an individualised learning plan. In the reporting area, teachers can see what each child is learning, set personal targets, monitor how much time is spent on the program, and are alerted when a child is having difficulty.

Nessy programs are designed to help educators meet the needs of all their students. Our goal is to provide effective learning to all children, at an affordable cost. We are passionate about helping children learn to read through multi-sensory, game-based learning. Most of all, we believe that learning happens, when it’s fun.

3-time winner at the prestigious Educational Resources Awards, Nessy is used in over 190 countries,  by millions of children worldwide. Nessy have established relationships with schools across the Middle East and we are proud to work with such forward-thinking schools to support their students

The Nessy Story

The company grew out of a desire to teach dyslexic children to read, write and spell more effectively. Nessy was Founded in 1999 by Mike Jones and is based upon the teaching materials developed by his mother Pat Jones. Mike and Pat’s story is featured in the film Mical (below)

Programs

Nessy Reading and Spelling is our Structured Literacy program that covers five years of literacy development. As literacy skills develop, students advance to instruction in spelling, morphology, vocabulary, and comprehension. There are 100s of lessons packed with videos, motivating games and 1000s of supporting printable worksheets and card games. Each student learns independently and at their own pace, gradually building confidence.

8 Essential Components of Nessy Reading and Spelling

case study - Glasgow High School

Mr Hallahan, a teacher at the Glasgow High School, undertook an independent study into the effectiveness of the Nessy Reading and Spelling program. Students were aged between 8-10 years. Spelling ability was tested at the beginning and end of the 4-month trial. The average increase was 8 months. Three students who barely used the program made no progress. Several students used the program 3 or 4 times a week in addition to their scheduled time with the teacher. The student who used the program most intensively made 21 months progress. A huge difference in motivation was observed among the pupils.

“In my opinion, the results speak for themselves, particularly when you consider that it was over such a short timescale, and that the ‘sample’ was a group made up completely of pupils who have previously identified difficulties with spelling.”

Stuart Says

I’m so thrilled that Nessy have partnered with Louise. Having had the pleasure of meeting Louise and hearing her talks on a number of occasions it is clear she is a pillar of the children’s additional needs community within the Middle East. Adding her collaboration to Nessy’s fun and effective programs means we can work towards ensuring all students of determination and students with English as an Additional Language have the support to create pathways to their success!
